Job Description:

A feedmill operator is responsible for operating feedmill equipment to batch-feed rations for cattle. Job responsibilities include working with boilers, flakers, and heavy machinery to produce feed, and observing and inspecting the machinery to ensure all equipment runs effectively and reduces any setbacks in production.

Location: Hale Center Feedyard

Responsibilities:

Feedmill Operations & Equipment

• Observe and follow the computer system to batch feed and detect maintenance tasks needed
• Assist crew with daily mill housekeeping items; cleaning and organizing work areas
• Maintain inventory of feedmill ingredients
• Comply with safety practices, procedures, and mandatory regulations such as EPA, FDA, and OSHA
• Other duties as assigned

Safety, Compliance & Cleanliness

• Follow all feed safety protocols
• Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment to reduce fire and safety risks
• Participate in safety meetings, training, and required certifications

Teamwork & Communication

• Communicate effectively with feed truck drivers and management to ensure timely feed delivery
• Work collaboratively with feedmill and yard crews to meet daily production goals
• Report equipment issues or operational concerns to supervisors

Requirements:

• Mechanical knowledge and working knowledge of feedmill systems is a plus
• General Understanding of boilers and electrical systems is a plus
• 1-2 years’ experience operating heavy equipment is a plus
• Willing to learn different roles within the feedmill
• Team Player with effective communication with team members and the Feedmill Manager
• Must be able to walk and stand for an extended time
• Must be able to work in a constantly moving environment
