Cactus Feeders is an Amarillo, Texas-based cattle company. Originally founded by the Engler Family in 1975, today we operate 15 Feedyards and Outside Cattle Locations producing over a million head of fed cattle annually. The Company has locations throughout the Texas Panhandle, Southwest Kansas, and Eastern Colorado.

Stratford Feedyard Farms in Stratford, TX

Stratford Farm has 4,115 irrigated acres and 5,525 native grass acres. Lasley Farm has 2,710 irrigated acres and 7,100 native grass acres. Each farm would have two rotations crops either grown for fall/spring and summer grazing or silage harvest.

Job Description:

A Farm Foreman would be responsible for supervising a team of 2-5 people and working with crop consultants, custom farmers, landlords and seed reps. The foreman would oversee sprinklers, motors, crops, fences and outside cattle water. Assist in daily farm operations and cattle wellness. This role is a full-time position. 

Job Responsibilities:

• Planning multiple growing seasons worth of crops per year
• Preparing and executing a budget
• Presenting and implementing projects
• Maintaining and managing a crew from 2-5 people
• Sprinkler and irrigation maintenance
• Building and repairing fencing
• Assisting in animal wellness   
• Day-to-day farm maintenance
• Other duties as assigned

Job Qualifications:

• Previous farm management experience or have obtained a college degree in an agriculture-related field – Plant and Soil Science, Agronomy, etc.(Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree, preferred, but not required)
• Prior knowledge and experience in forage growing farming and one or more of cattle production segments (cow-calf, stocker, cattle feeding) is preferred
• Demonstrate the ability to problem solve and prioritize daily responsibilities
• Individual who possesses a strong work ethic and self-starter mentality
• Willingness to contribute to agriculture and the fed cattle industry 
• Experience with farming operations and operating equipment is beneficial
