Cactus Feeders is an Amarillo, Texas–based cattle company. Founded in 1975, today we operate 15 feedyards and outside cattle locations, producing over a million head of fed cattle annually. The company has locations throughout the Texas Panhandle, Southwest Kansas, and Eastern Colorado.


Job Description – Night Watchman (Frontier Feedyard, Spearman, TX)

The Night Watchman is responsible for maintaining the security of Frontier Feedyard during nighttime hours. In this role, you will actively monitor the yard, receive cattle after-hours, and complete key tasks to ensure the safety and security of the facility. The Night Watchman reports directly to the Cattle Manager.


Hours: 4 PM – 6 AM


Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide security to the feedyard at night by periodically driving and monitoring the yard.
  • Receive cattle arriving during the shift and communicate details to the Cattle Manager.
  • Record bunk slick times during rounds.
  • Maintain general housekeeping as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with company Animal Handling and Welfare Policy.
  • Follow all procedures, policies, rules, and regulations of the Company, OSHA, and HACCP.
  • Communicate promptly with management regarding any issues.
  • Maintain consistent and reliable attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED; or one to three months related experience/training.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic math skills and keen attention to detail.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Ability to observe and enforce safety and security procedures.
