Hale Center Feedyard in Hale Center, TX, is seeking a Feedmill Operator to join our team!

Job Description:

The Feedmill Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently running feedmill equipment to produce feed rations for cattle. This role involves operating boilers, steamers, and flakers; monitoring system performance; and assisting with daily housekeeping to maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. The operator must observe, inspect, and troubleshoot equipment to ensure smooth and consistent feed production throughout the day.

Work Schedule:

• Monday–Friday, & Rotational weekends  

Responsibilities:

  • Inspect and operate feedmill machinery and equipment daily 
  • Monitor computerized feed-batching systems and identify maintenance needs 
  • Assist with daily mill housekeeping tasks, including cleaning and organizing work areas
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of feedmill ingredients
  • Follow safety practices and comply with EPA, FDA, and OSHA regulations
  • Operate equipment such as tractors, loaders, and other general equipment as part of daily mill operations (on-the-job training provided) 
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements: 

  • Mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of feedmill systems (preferred)
  • General understanding of boilers and basic electrical systems (preferred)
  • 1–2 years of experience operating heavy equipment (preferred) 
  • Willingness to learn and rotate through various feedmill roles 
  • Team-oriented with strong communication skills 
  • Ability to walk, stand, and perform physical tasks for extended periods
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, constantly moving environment
